Feed Sacks:True Blue is Linzee Kull McCray's first fabric collection for Moda Fabrics. Her collection of feed sack reproductions are inspired by her love for feedsack fabrics with a focus on a single colour. In doing so she had paid homage to the feed sack swatches she studied while doing research for her book (Encyclopedia of Inspiration: Feed Sacks by Linzee Kull McCray) at the Briscoe Center of American History at the University of Texas

Flower Power

All but one of the feedsack designs used as the basis of this fabric collection are part of Linzee's personal collection - one was from Moda's substantial collection. The range includes 9 different designs each available in up to five different colorways for a total of 30 fabrics. I am in love with the the squared-off flower print (pictured directly above) as well as the inclusion of the medium scale red rose designs brings an unexpected pop of color for drama.

Beach Road the latest fabric collection by Jen Kingwell for Moda Fabrics. Jen is a quilter, quilt designer, and fabric designer, with a unique eye for pattern and rich color. Jen's quilts are often scrappy with many different fabrics, colors, and designs, mingling together to complete her projects.

Beach Road is a big collection! 40 fabrics; 9 unique designs each available in up to 7 colorways (not all fabrics are pictured here). Jen's inspiration for this range of fabric was prints from the 50s and 60s, brought into current day design with an injection of color. And colorful it certainly is. Jen's hope when designing this collection was to inspire makers to mix it with favourite prints from their stash.

Annie Brady's first collection for Moda Fabrics is a journey into the Montana wild. Out past the urban cityscape, the sky opens up and seems to go on forever. There are mountains and forests, deep valleys and rivers. It is a place where animals and nature reign. There are no cars or people, but it's far from quiet as the forest has its own kind of language. There are bears, moose and buffalo ... this is Big Sky Country.

The complete quilting weight cotton collection consists 24 fabrics: 7 designs each available in up to four different color ways. I was immediately drawn to the colors and fun designs of this collection. The mustard/yellow color palette is often hard to find and the bears especially are super cute, plus I think there are some excellent stash basics in this collection.

I love this new collection by American Jane (Sandy Klop)! Hop Skip Jump is a collection of reproduction prints in classic primary colors with all the charm of a bygone era ... and a hop, skip, and a jump. I had trouble choosing a favorite print for there are quite a few designs that I am partial to.

The collections consists of 39 prints plus a panel - 8 unique designs in up to 8 colorways. There are multiple floral prints, as well as checks, checks with and without dots, as well as daisies, daisies that look like dots, and even pindots. All are excellent small scale designs that are perfect stash builders and so easy to use in your sewing projects.

Who doesn't love a rainbow of color? Especially when it is a rainbow of fabric with tiny daisies!

Handmade is the most recent fabric collection by Bonnie and Camille for Moda Fabrics. It is a complete collection of forty prints comprising quirky vintage reproduction prints, classic patchwork designs, text fabric, as well as a myriad of small scale stash basics.

The collections features 9 different designs printed in up to seven different colorways. My eye automatically wanders towards the basics included in this range, including an excellent range of tiny dots as well as diagonal stripe prints perfect for candy cane stripe quilt binding!

I also really like the inclusion of black/white prints as part of this collection. I use black and white fabrics regularly but in moderation for my quilts. These fabric can add contrast or can be used as a highlight (or feature fabric).

Moving On Lawns is the latest fabric collection by Jen Kingwell for Moda Fabrics. Jen is a quilter and quilt designer, with a unique eye for pattern and rich color. Jen's quilts are often scrappy with many different fabrics, colors, and designs, mingling together to complete her projects. 

Moving On features 34 prints in total - it's a big collection - seven different designs each in up to 6 color ways. The fabric base is cotton lawn; cotton lawn is a high thread count cloth with a smooth even weave and has a silky, untextured feel. It is lighter in weight than quilting cloth and suitable for garment sewing (blouses, dresses, full skirts) and can of course be used to make a quilt.
