I have lots of photos to share with you today of my finished quilt. Simple patchwork quilts continue to be a favorite and making them brings me all the joy. I really do enjoy the process from start to finish, but choosing fabrics and working on a color palette is always a highlight. The actual sewing process that follows is repetitive but I don't mind that at all. In fact I find it quite relaxing, and it is usually at that point that you see your vision for the quilt unfold in front of your eyes.

I have quilted the quilt by ditch stitching all the seam lines, effectively creating a grid of lines 2 1/2 inches apart. I then added an additional set of diagonal lines that cross at the center of all of the "lighter" squares (every second square).

For the back of the quilt I have used a single fabric from the Tiger Lily collection by Heather Ross. This is one of my favorite prints from this collection. The quality of the fabric is so lovely and it is the perfect yellow. A good yellow fabric, much like the "right" hue of green, can be hard to find. Although (speaking for myself only)  using yellow is trickier than using green.

For the binding I have used a narrow red and white stripe fabric. This particular fabric is from the Ella Blue Basics range - red and white stripe, which I have machine stitched entirely by machine (see machine stitched binding tutorial here).

  9. Yellow is my most unfavorite color. It is just perfect for the back of this quilt with the red and white striped binding. Very cheerful and inspiring to a yellow hater. :)
