Today the last of a 3 part series Sunday Stashes featuring more of the recently released Cotton + Steel Collections, starting this week with beautiful Cat Lady by Sarah Watts.

Cat Lady is for quilting cat lovers all over the world. The collection is inspired by an antique cat drawing that Sarah found in Japan and features purrfectly adorable and quirky cats. There are yarn balls unraveling, cats playing with fish, kitten mittens, and stacked cats; all presented with a fun sense of humor.

Next up is Macrame by Rashida Coleman-Hale. With her newest collection, Rashida  takes a groovy leap back to the 1970's. Inspired by the latest handmade craze that's making a modern comeback ~ Macrame ~ a craft I remember learning as a child.

Macrame features knots, beads, twists, and ties with a look that's refined yet still young and fresh. We love the wall hangings, loopy owl motifs, hanging plants, and bold leaves, bead curtains, and pattern guides. The colors vary from soft pastels to deep dark saturated blues.

Sunday Stash #96

This week's fabric stash was sourced locally from Patchwork on Central Park, GJ Discount Fabrics and Spotlight ~ did I mention I was rather restless and unsettled this week?  Restless means I have been out and about:

First up Denyse Schmidt ~ Picnics and Fairgrounds ~ has finally arrived at Spotlight.  Although range was limited I did find four of the 10 Australia Only prints:

Stash Enhancement

Despite the relentless heat the postman delivered a fabric parcel today. Yes! Taking pictures of fabric is productive -  ahh yes?

 Rouenneries by French General for Moda

Inspired by old French reds and naturals, this  fabric collection for Moda by designer French General is a peek into the rural life the mid 18th century France.  The word Rouenneries has it origins from the woven cotton fabrics made in 18th century Rouen France.

My favorite!

Some of these were purchased online at Rossville Quilts and more at my local fabric store GJ's Discount Fabrics in Brunswick. These fabrics are way outside of comfort zone, but I was drawn to them, especially the turkey reds, and will challenge myself to hopefully do something interesting with them.

Sunday Stash #25

Some fabrics are like that.  They end up in a storage container marked with What was I Thinking?

Now and again I will be hunting through my fabric stash for that certain something when:  "Oh my!  Look what we've got here!" and "I forgot I had that!"  Does that happen to you?

These three fabrics are by American Jane for Moda and are part of a fabric range called Peas and Carrots.  They have now joined my Favorite Fabric stash and have settled in well.  Ready for use.

Sunday Stash #16

This week's Sunday Stash is also a new arrival. These fabrics are from Denyse Schmidt's Katie Jump Rope Collection and they are called Orange and Yellow Dot.

Another new arrival by way of intercontinental swap are these much sought after fabrics with thanks to Jenni.

They are from the Flea Market Fancy range - Grey Seeds and Red Dotted Leaves - again by Denyse Schmidt, and Gnomes and Mushrooms by Heather Ross.

More Quilted Goodness

I made this made baby quilt top on the weekend. It is pieced from some of my favorite cotton fabrics by Denyse Schmidt (Katie Jump Rope and Flea Market Fancy), Lizzy House (Red Letter Day), and Heather Ross.

Finished Size: 22.5 inches x 30.5 inches

I quilted it and put the binding on just yesterday. The backing fabric is 5 Funky Monkeys - Sock Monkey by Erin Michaels in light green. The binding is Monaluna by Jennifer Moore in red.

This cute baby quilt made from all cotton fabrics and batting, is now for sale in my Etsy store.

Sunday Stash #14

When I first saw these two fabrics I was not initially inspired by their color, but I looked beyond to the printed design.

I love the whimsical freehand drawings on this fabric which all lend themselves really well to fussy cut blocks and panels as I did in this quilt:

Sunday Stash #1

Favorite Liberty - Tana Lawn fabric:

Liberty fabrics are really beautiful to work with. These three prints are some of their classic designs that have been around a long time. I usually put a little bit of Liberty into each quilt that I make.

Furthermore when Kate from One Flew Over posted her finished quilt this week, I was overwhelmed by the urge to pull out my red and blue/aqua fabrics for my next project. I have a thing for quilts made with linen at the moment and this quilt really appealed to me. I am easily led astray!


I haven't as yet decided the on the design of the quilt, but would like to step outside of my current square mode.

Double the Fun!

This is what I have been working on for most of the week. I finished hand sewing the binding late last night, and was able to take some photos this morning, although it is rather overcast in Melbourne. No rain though!

The back of the quilts are pieced also, they are both the same:

I quilted this baby quilt the same as the Spring Quilt with straight vertical and horizontal lines just a quarter of an inch inside each square running from edge to edge.

I made two of these quilts. One has been added to my Etsy Store and one will go to a cousin who is pregnant with a baby girl due in June. I have really enjoyed making these, although I completely underestimated how many hours I would need to put in to finish these.

I have also received a few emails asking what sewing machine I use. I currently have a Janome 6600p which is a fantastic machine. I have not encountered any problems with it. However, I dream of a Bernina Aurora 440QE. One day, maybe? : )

Baby Quilts - Today's Progress Report

Wow! I have had another great sewing day. There just weren't enough hours in the day today, but I have finished what I set out to do.

I also made the binding. After much indecision I settled with an Amy Butler fabric, Full Moon Polka dot in Lime:

And picked a favorite fabric patch:

I will post pictures of the finished quilts tomorrow, when I can take some decent photos of them in the daylight.
