Another great collection of sweet reproduction prints this week! Old New 30's collections by popular Japanese designer Atsuko Matsuyama is released biannually by Lecien Fabrics - Spring and Fall.

The complete collection features just five reproduction designs each in up to 6 different colorways, and designs include children at play, bows, floral bouquets and strawberries.

These fabrics are adorable and I have ordered yardage (in addition to this FQ bundle) of the strawberry, floral bouquet and bows designs. These small scale designs are a great stash addition - simple designs in a range of colors - and perfect for fussy cutting:

Bunny Trail by Jodie Carleton and a Giveaway!

Earlier this year I was commissioned by Jodie Carleton from Vintage RicRic to make a quilt with her brand new fabric line ~ Bunny Trail for Ella Blue Fabrics ~ for Jodie's booth at Spring Quilt Market. The timeline was short but Jodie knew exactly what she wanted and I got on with the task ... a Drunkard's Path Quilt with a fun circle layout.

The Bunny Trail collection is inspired by the walking track near Jodie’s home and the fluffy-tailed inhabitants. If you walk there at the right time of the day you will see all those little bunnies hopping about on important bunny business. With happy colors and soft backgrounds this collection includes bunnies, carrots, and radishes and all manner of cuteness. The fabric will make the most charming happy quilts, clothing, bags, pillow cases, and cute little girl dresses.

QUILT STATS

The finished quilt measures 63 inches x 63 inches.

324 Drunkard's Path Blocks 

(18 rows of 18 blocks).

Each finished Drunkard's Path blocks measures 3.5" x 3.5".

Feedsack is the most recent collection by Whistler Studios for Windham Fabrics. Reproduction fabrics, more specifically 30's reproduction fabric, continue be a fabric stash favorite and I love incorporating these prints into my quilts together with modern and contemporary fabrics. These are wonderful ~

The collection features a range of traditional floral and ditzy (small scale) prints in colors typically associated with that era ~ six designs, each in up to four different colorways. These small scale designs are great for introducing reproduction fabrics into modern projects as you can readily assign a color to each - red, yellow, green and blue (above). You can then color co-ordinate your fabric selection, mixing and balancing the color palette of your project as you go irrespective of whether the fabric you have chosen for your project is a modern designer fabric or a reproduction fabric.

A Color Splash Quilt - The Finished Quilt

I am so in love with these bright colors! This quilt has turned out great and it has made my day to be able to share a whole lot of photos with you here. I so wish you could see (and touch) the actual quilt for when you reduce the a quilt to a 10 inch square - or smaller still when viewing on a device - I do think that the impact is not the same, and I repeatedly hear from my customers that the actual quilt is even better than the photos! That's always nice to hear.

I think you may already know how much I love the fabrics that I have used to make this quilt. Many are from my stash of Japanese import fabrics by popular Japanese designers like Suzuko Koseki and Atsuko Matsuyuama, but also included are prints by Cotton + Steel and stash basics like dots, stripes, gingham, and small scale prints in a range of bold colors.

To finish this quilt I have given it my usual backing and binding fabric treatment ~ newsprint fabric from the Story Collection by Carrie Bloomston for the backing fabric with black/white stripe fabric by Timeless Treasures for binding:

QUILT STATS

A Color Splash Quilt

The finished quilt measures 48 inches x 60 inches.

15 rows of 12 units ~  a total of 180 units.

Each finished unit measures 4" x 4".

This quilt includes in excess of 150 different printed designer fabrics,

and many Japanese prints that have been 

fussy cut to feature a novelty item.

Low loft Warm and White cotton batting by The Warm Company.
