Approximately 100 different quilting cottons.
The "green" quilt challenge that I set myself has been accomplished. I was surprised by just how many pretty green fabrics that I able to pull from stash. Sometimes it isn't until you start looking, cutting, and actually piecing that you discover just how many designs (and colors) can and will play nice alongside one another. And of course, you cannot go wrong with this classic color palette.
This quilt has been quilted with an all over 1 1/2" grid of intersecting lines; first by ditch stitching the seam lines that join the 6" blocks then by quilting in between those lines. One stitch at a time, one line at a time. The low loft cotton batting - my preferred batting - gives the quilt a lovely soft drape, and the quilting adds just the right amount of texture.
For the back of the quilt I have used my favorite backing fabric ~ Newsprint from the Paint Collection by Carrie Bloomston ~ and I have mixed up my usual binding routine by using Squared Elements in Rosewater by Art Gallery Fabrics for binding fabric. The soft pink binding fabric balances the colors of the quilt and finishes the quilt with a subtle frame.
This quilt was sold prior to listing in my store.
