I've jumped on board of the Marcelle Medallion Quilt-Along happening over on Instagram (see hashtags #marcellemedallion and #medallionalong).
The Marcelle Medallion Quilt is from the book:
Making this quilt involves photocopying and cutting out templates, tracing, marking fabric and inset seams; none of which I entertain regularly. I am taking it one border at a time.
So far so good, I am enjoying the change of pace, and re-acquainting myself with skills long not used, but never forgotten. It's a little like riding a bike ...
Hopefully more soon.
Rita
Your medallion is gorgeous! My book just arrived today and I got the medallion and first border done. Triangles tomorrow...but after that it seems pretty straight forward!
ReplyDeleteOoooh yours is so beautiful.
ReplyDeletegorgeous! and I know what you mean about reaquainting yourself with skills. I recently made a miniature quilt, and surprised myself with just how much unpicking I did. But it was fun, and I did refresh my skills!
ReplyDeleteMichelle x
Love this quilt and your fabrics. You always make wonderful choices. If you're in the UK and can't get the book the pattern can be found in "Love Quilting and Patchwork" magazine. I'm busy sorting my fabrics including some Liberty for it.
ReplyDeletethis sounds so complicated to me, will enjoy following your journey through the book
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous
ReplyDeleteI just love this quilt and can't wait to give it a go. I have the book so there really is no excuse to get started! Yours is beautiful :-)

ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful! I ordered my books weeks ago but stupidly ordered it with another book that's yet to be released so I have to wait till later this month. I'm a poohead sometimes :/
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! Beautiful! Great fabric selections, too! :-)
ReplyDeleteI really love your fabric combination and value placement. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Rita. I, too, am not a fan of the template copying and cutting, but I may just have to jump in anyhow!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, Rita! I, too, am not normally a fan of the template copying and cutting, but I may just have to jump in anyhow.
ReplyDeleteOhhh - love everything about this! The vintage-ness of the block pattern and the modern color combinations blah blah blah... very inspiring! Going to check out instagram right now!
ReplyDeleteYour medallion is looking amazing so far and no doubt will be a favourite by the time you're done, Rita!!
ReplyDeleteSo modern! Rita, when you make something like this, do you have all the colors already planned out, or do you audition fabrics with each border?
ReplyDeleteI want to make one of these! Just curiosity, could you share what the grey floral is on the outside corners of the star medallion? I am seriously loving it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Rita!
I just got sucked into the #medallionalong on instagram and was freaking out because I couldn't figure out where to get the magazine. Thanks for sharing that it's in the Liberty Love book, it's not on it's way. =)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to watching your progress, your center is gorgeous!
