[workinprogress] in Pictures

I am beginning the week with a new project. This, a custom quilt project, using a bundle of stash fabrics; most by Amy Butler, from both the Soul Blossoms and Lark Collections interspersed with solid fabrics.

.... a project you may well recognize.  I am stepping out of my usual design routine by following a quilt pattern, and more strangely still, one of my own quilt patterns: the Sweet Daisy Quilt Pattern

I impatiently printed the pattern and read the instructions before getting started with the rotary cutter.  I didn't take long to find my rhythm; cutting, sewing and pressing.

The blocks are done.  I now just need to try and ignore the beautiful Spring weather that's beckoning me to sit outside and enjoy the Melbourne sunshine.  I think I can hear my knitting needles calling ...

More soon.

  7. You made me laugh picturing you impatiently reading your own instructions. I too read my impatiently, but always find the 'wasted' time worth it in the end. Reading and re-reading, has stopped me making many a cutting mistake, especially with those patterns I have used before and am quite familiar with. I am sure this quilt is going to be stunning and adored by the person who has commissioned it.

  8. I LOVED making Sweet Daisy and I used exactly the same combination of fabrics!!!!! Not surprising, but my Red Pepper quilts always sell quickly. Enjoy the work!

  10. You accomplished so much!! Love Amy Butler fabrics. I made a duvet cover for my daughter in 2006 when she headed off to college using Amy Butler's Love fabrics. I've been hoarding the scraps ever since. Perhaps it is time to bring them out of hiding and turn them into something small but pretty.
