Oh Deer! Two Baby Quilts

Work in Progress.

Two baby quilts - just for fun. I mean, who doesn't like making baby quilts? They're quick and easy, but still allow for fabric and color play. What's more, these two baby quilts were made to a specific size so that I could use up two large pieces of scrap batting. Don't waste a thing.

And just in case your curious about some of the fabrics that I have used:

Each quilt top measures 34 inches x 42 inches.
Each finished square measures 3.75" x 3.75" ~
size was determined by the size of the buck/deer head print.

  1. Rita, I am always amazed at the balance you achieve in terms of color, print, and high/low volume! Your quilts make me happy. Maybe I'll eventually get more balanced by reading your posts :)

  5. So adorable! I just saw an IG post by GnomeAngel who was looking for some of that Kerchief Girl print in any color for a special project she is doing. I can see why - it's the perfect addition to your own special project!

At 6 months, MY most adorable baby Sarah (ok, grandbaby) is really interested in all of these little details. Rita, these are treasures!

  13. Love them! I need a quilt by March 2916 but because I don't know how to mix fabrics like you, I just buy pre-cuts. I love the pattern though, and your prints are just wonderful! I sure wish I had just a little bit of your knowledge! Thank you so much for your ideas!!

I have a lot of those fabrics. I wonder if I could pull it off....

  16. I often wonder how quilters choose the size of each square in a patchwork quilt. Ahhh....by the fussy cut size of the prints they're using! Now that makes sense;)

  17. I was just going to ask you what the deer fabric was in your latest post, but I knew you would have listed it somewhere. :) Also, it's so fabulous to see you using the kerchief girls. I have a fat quarter of each color and I'm SO reluctant to cut into them. But they are really such a fabulous addition and SHOULD be used. I think I need to put them in something that I keep for myself and then maybe I will stop hoarding them!
