For the Love of Patchwork | A Finished Quilt

A new week, a finished quilt, and a picture post.

Well, from start to finish, that was a fun quilt to make. I love classic patchwork, and when you combine that with my love for color and fabric, you know that I have spent the week in my quilting paradise.

Quick Quilt Stats:
2.5 inch finished squares.
540 patchwork squares.
Cotton fabric, thread, and batting.
Quilt measures 50 inches x 67 inches.
120+ different fabrics from stash including fabrics
that are now hard to find, but also many current designer fabrics
that I think you will recognize.

Quilted with intersecting horizontal and vertical lines (ditch stitching all seam lines) creating a 2.5 inch grid of lines as well as a set of diagonal lines that cross through every second patchwork square, thereby adding texture without affecting the quilt design, nor the use of fabrics.

For the back of the quilt I have used my current favorite backing fabric ~ Newsprint from the Paint Collection by Carrie Bloomston matched with my favorite binding fabric ~ black and white stripe by Timeless Treasures. A winning combination.

This quilt was listed in my Etsy Store, and was sold prior to publishing this blog post. It is now making the long journey to it's new owner.

I have made a start on my next quilt project - a custom order - and have photos to show you soon.

As always, thank you for stopping by,

  9. I don't know how, but it feels like I could pick your classic patchwork quilts out of a lineup; they somehow have something that distinguishes them from all the others as a Red Pepper Quilt. Another lovely finish, I love that backing fabric!

  13. I have a question - how did you piece this one together? I don't see fabric repeats which makes me think you didn't use the strip piecing then cut down to size method in your tutorials....?

    1. Hi Anne - thank you for stopping by :-) I did strip piece this quilt using strips measuring 3" wide x 10". Sew four strips together and cross cut at 3" intervals (the process is the same as per my tutorial Checkerboard and Strip Piecing Tutorial)

  14. Rita - Did you sneak in a square from Heather Ross' new line? I think I see a little green patch with a yarn ball. :-) I can't wait to see that new line. Your work is beautiful. Nice fresh quilt to treasure for years to come.
