I am excited to have been asked to participate in the Hawthorne Threads Bengal Blog Hop to introduce their new adventure ~ designing and digitally printing their own fabric collections.
Introducing Bengal! Bengal is Hawthorne Threads' first in-house collection - available and printed on demand. It consists of 10 prints, plus a large panel which features a tiger face in three different sizes, and one border print. Upon receipt of my fabric bundle I immediately noticed the great quality of the fabric, with a tight weave and a high thread count. The fabric felt however somewhat stiff and unwieldy.
As recommended I washed the fabrics with cold water, phosphate free detergent, and a gentle cycle, then line dried. There was no noticeable color run or fading, and fabric creasing was minimal. The fabric softened - a lot! The high thread count called for a finer needle but other than that the fabric was wonderfully easy to work with. Hawthorne Threads provide some great suggestions for sewing and working with their digitally printed fabrics here.
I made both the pillow cover and quilt with my fabric bundle - the solid background fabric, including the white and navy solid fabric (used also for the binding), are beautiful Hawthorne Hues.
