Happy New Year everyone! It is day one of a new year and I think it is going to be a fabulous one.
My plans for a little quiet time away from the sewing machine over the Christmas to New Year period were thrown in disarray by the #scrappytripalong virus that spread rapidly on Instragram. Started by Brenda from Pink Castle Fabrics and Megan from Lucy and Norman this Trip Around the World is highly contagious and I am hoping you'll join in too!
This quilt is strip pieced using 6 strips (each strip measuring 2.5 inches x 16.5 inch) to make 12.5 inch blocks. A very useful tutorial can be found here:
I have enjoyed using my fabric stash for this quilt top to make a very scrappy looking quilt top. I tried not to over think the color/fabric choices and simply worked on each block individually rather with a focus on the overall color palette of the quilt top. And it's true, anything goes!
I have pieced 36 blocks and my quilt top measures 72 inches x 72 inches (which I may come to regret when I start basting/quilting). I am in my element when patchwork piecing and I have a feeling that the humble square will continue to make an appearance in 2013.
Feel like joining in? Please do!
