Innocent Crush - Progress

 .
To keep you up to date with progress made on the Innocent Crush Quilt here a  picture of both the front of the quilt:

and the quilt back made just yesterday:

I really love how the back of the quilt has turned out!  After much procrastination the quilt back really didn't take as long to piece as anticipated (1 hour of cutting and 1 1/2 hours of piecing and pressing).  Pieced from 8 1/2 inch squares and arranged without over thinking the layout I was pleasantly surprised to see the colors all work so well together.

Today ... basting.

  9. Yes, the quilt back turned out really well. What a nice effect to have both the tiny and bigger simple patchwork in one quilt.

  20. It is absolutely wonderful! I have the entire set and I was debating on making a "reversible" quilt and doing one colorway on one side and the other colorway on the back, but I was afraid the alignment would be off when I did the quilt sandwich.

  21. Sometimes simple designs are the most effective and I love the choice of fabrics. The back is stunning too and is perfect for the quilt. Happy stitching!

  22. Rita, your quilt looks very nice here on your blog, but what really grabbed me was the little thumbnail shot of it on my sidebar......come over a moment and take a look, ........ see how cool it looks when the blocks all sortof blur together ? ! ?

    Awesomeness !

  24. Rita, one of the MANY things I love and enjoy about your work is that you can be depended upon to be using newly released luscious fabrics. You are like our 'fabric barometer' - if Rita is using it, and it works then it must be good! I wasn't sure about purchasing 'Innocent Crush'. They are bold large prints and I wasn't sure how I would use them. But then I saw this quilt! I love that you have cut them into smaller pieces and combined them with spots. The addition of a splash of yellow and lime green really works. You are a genius with colour. My parcel of 'Innocent Crush' is now winging its way to me - thanks for that!! No, quite genuinely, thank you for inspiring us over and over. Best wishes, Ros x

  27. I'm with Gina's Garden (comment above)...I've been hesitant about making a reversible (or pretty) quilt back because I'm not sure I can get everything aligned up correctly and will end up with something wonky. Something that won't look like it was planned that way, but wonky because I didn't line it up correctly.

  28. It turned out beautifully, I took your inspiration and am making a scrappy quilt based on the 16 patch design (www.seamssewcreative.blogspot.com) If mine looks half as beautiful as yours I'll be thrilled:) do you hand stitch your bindings? And did you use a walking foot to quilt it? I've been kicking around the idea of buying one but can't justify the cost just yet. And advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
