A Finished Quilt

Having enjoyed the "impromptu", or rather haphazard piecing, earlier this week, I have managed to finish the quilt, binding and all this time.

Finished quilt measures:  36 inches x 36 inches

Although the majority of my quilts don't have borders, I decided to add two borders to this quilt.  The inner border fabric is Amy Butler's Full Moon Polka Dot.  The outer border fabric is by Anna Maria Horner from the Good Folks collection and is called Fortune (Zinnia).

The binding fabric is also a Westminster Fabric, this time a Polka Dot by Kaffe Fassett.  The outer border and the binding fabric are a match made in heaven, and for once I had no difficulty in choosing binding fabric!
The back of the quilt is pieced with fabrics that have also been used in the front of the quilt.  The solid gray fabric used is Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton in Ash. The quilting itself is all straight line quilting. However, I have divided the quilt into quarters, with each quarter being quilted separately.  Two of the quarters feature a squared-off spiral, one of the quarters is quilted with horizontal lines and the last quarter features vertical lines.

Although it does not come naturally to me, I did enjoy this improvised style of piecing.  Hopefully I will be courageous enough to try it again soon. Playing with fabric is always fun for me!

This quilt is for sale in my Etsy Store.
