The color palette of this quilt is not my usual palette, but I have grown very fond of these muted tones, and together with the pops of brighter colors - like the yellow prints - I don't think that this quilt is that much of a stretch in terms of my "normal". I love the finished quilt, even with all those purple fabrics!

I have quilted the quilt by ditch stitching all seam lines, thereby creating an all over 2.5 inch grid of intersecting lines as well as a single set of diagonal quilting lines (cross-hatching). Ditch stitching with a low loft  batting is functional rather than decorative, allowing the fabrics to feature, whilst still giving the quilt  a subtle texture.

For the back of the quilt I have used a single fabric - a small scale red floral print with white background - from The Simple Life collection by Tasha Noel.  And for this quilt I felt it was necessary to deviate from my standard black/white stripe binding fabric, instead using a soft pink print ~ Squared Elements in Rosewater (Art Gallery Fabrics) to complement the overall tone of the quilt.

  3. I love it.
This is pretty much my taste in creating. Soothing and colorful
    This one turned out wonderful.
I found some purple fabrics in my heap upstairs.
there are some pretty ones out there, nothing too dark, just nice and blendy.
Happy Wednesday, Rita. I hope you have a lovely day today.
Mind is busy as usual. I spent the day with my oldest daughter yesterday, the new mum. So fun, a little bit funny, Christina needs to relax more. haha. Remember those days?
I have to keep reminding her that she is in charge.

  6. Your quilts are amazing -- and I just don't know how you turn them out one after another! I'm working on a version of your Sweet Daisy quilt (love the really detailed information you share in your pattern!), and I'm pretty diligent in working quite a bit each day, and it takes me forever. Maybe I'll get faster as I gain experience, but I am simply amazed by the rate at which you turn out these unique and beautiful works of art. (I also simply love your fabric choices and have been stashing some new fabrics in imitation -- the sincerest form of flattery :)) Hoping to make an "Economy Block" quilt some day, but my stash is not deep and old enough yet to make it interesting. So glad I found your blog!
