Baby Boy Quilt - The Blues | Red Pepper Quilts 2014

This baby quilt is all about the colors and the fabrics. So simple to make! Pulling fabrics from stash and mixing prints from many different collections is just one of my favorite quilty things to do, as is arranging and re-arranging the squares on my design wall floor.

For the back of the quilt I have used a Pearl Bracelet print by Lizzy House in light grey to complement the colors of the quilt. Quilted by outlining all seam lines; stitching on both sides of all seam lines. I don't measure/mark the stitching line but rather use the outer edge of the walking foot as a guide. Practical rather than decorative, although I do think it adds character and texture.

And I just had to go with my standard black/white strip fabric for binding as I rather like it and I have much yardage on hand. There will be more quilts with binding just like it.

  4. So pretty. I love the subtle color palette you've created.
I've long admired the excellence of your machine stitched bindings, and this is another outstanding example. Would you consider a tutorial to show us how you achieve such perfect stitching along the back edge of the binding while the SID on the front doesn't show at all?
