I have had such a wonderful week making this quilt ~ easy patchwork sewing with quality fabrics (including some of my favorite Liberty of London Tana Lawn fabrics) and just enough fabric play with a classic color palette to satisfy my need for creativity.
I cannot say enough about the quality and gorgeous texture of the background fabric (Melange Yarn Dyed Cottons by Lecien - more details here). It has all of the great qualities of traditional linen fabric but without any of the impracticalities that come with sewing and using linen; and like I had anticipated it quilted beautifully.
I have quilted this quilt with a set of edge to edge double lines, stitching approximately 3/4 inch on either side of all seam lines. Stitching double quilting lines was double the work but it was well worth it for the extra texture and the additional stitches that feature so prominently on the background cotton.
For the back of the quilt I have used a single fabric - Script Britton Nummer Fabric for IKEA by Emma Jones. The modern large text backing fabric is a strong contrast for this otherwise traditional patchwork quilt but they truly complement one another.
And black/white striped binding fabric. I couldn't resist, it was an obvious choice.
This quilt is for sale and it is listed in my Etsy Store.

Have a great weekend ~ ours is a long one with a public holiday on Monday (Labour Day)!
