A Liberty Patchwork Pillow

I feel like I have been sitting on my hands this week ... impatiently awaiting the arrival of my order of the new Liberty Lifestyle Collection - Stile.  Now that it's Friday afternoon it is clear that I will have to wait till next week.

By Wednesday I was itching to sew and as I had been sent a complimentary set of Stile 5 inch fabric swatches by Liberty Lifestyle I decided to cut right into them.
The details:
Fabrics:  Liberty Lifestyle Stile Collection combined with Liberty Tana Lawn
Cut 80 fabric pieces each measuring 1.75 inches x 4.5 inches
Layout: 5 rows of 16 logs.

The pillow cover measures 20 inches x 20 inches and is quilted with a closely spaced grid of intersection lines.  The lines are approximately a half inch apart which so happens to be the distance between my sewing machine's center needle position and the inner edge of the walking foot.  The dense quilting grid creates a lovely texture without detracting from the delicate detail of the fabrics.
For the back of the quilt I have used this limited edition medium weight upholstery fabric by Ink and Spindle:  Rooftops in Snow - a hand screen printed fabric printed using water-based, solvent-free inks.  I came across this fabric whilst tidying my stash last week last week and decided it was a shame to have this special fabric sit in the cupboard much longer.  It feels good to have used it for this pillow cover ...

The pillow cover has a zippered seam for easy insert removal and cleaning.

I have also separately listed in my Etsy Store these three Liberty Pincushions : ~ they'd make a great gift for a sewing friend .... SOLD

Keeping my fingers crossed that my Liberty Lifestyle - Stile order arrives early next week.

Have a great weekend,
Rita
