Triple O ~ A Finished Quilt

I think it best to start with a warning of a blog post loaded with pictures.  I've finished my quilt featuring three circles in the lower left hand corner of the quilt.  I think I'll call it my Triple O Quilt (why is naming a quilt this hard?).
It's been a productive week.  The Bernina 820 arrived back from service and repairs on Monday and was immediately put to good use.  I am really comfortable on this machine now but it has taken almost two years to get to know just how it likes to be handled.  Let's just say that when things are good with this machine it's amazing.
I am still thoroughly enjoying the straight-line quilting, and the modern and uncomplicated look created by the intersecting lines.

Taking photos is hard work (I'd rather be sewing), and when I head out with the camera Oliver is at my heels.  I take many photos while I am at it - for this shoot there were 80+ images - and take the camera off it's automatic setting to explore the other options.   I then choose the best images to edit.  I am still learning.

There happened to be countless good images of the quilt edges and binding this time around.  The striped binding fabric is from Sarah Fielke's From Little Things collection (Lecien).

I've listed this quilt in my Etsy Store.
The listing can be found here:  Modern and Colorful Patchwork Quilt
As always I am ever so grateful for your visit.

  9. I love seeing fabrics repeat in your quilts. It really drives home how far a stash can go when you do scrappy quilts! Of course, maybe you have yards and yards of each print, but I think the point stands nonetheless. :)

  14. All of your quilts are wonderful, but this one seems to top them all. It's those unexpected circles, I think.

  15. I've always loved your photos; you really know how to use a camera well! Me....not so much. How do you get your white background? And how are they perfectly white (color-balancing wise)?

  17. The quilt is lovely. I am a new Bernina 820 owner and would love to know your secrets you have learned. Maybe you can do a little post forwe 820 owners. My biggest complaint is the thread always breaks and I use Aurifil 50wt. for piecing.

  18. Rita, the O's are so simple and so clever. Just exactly the kind of touch that feels very modern and fresh to me. Thanks for sharing how the process came about.

  19. Thanks for telling us how long it takes to get these fabulous shots. Sometimes I look at your page and sigh because I will never get my quilts to look as good as yours do - then you give a fantastic insight into how long it takes to get your quilts to look that good! (Not counting your amazing talent of course :D)
Gives us inspiration in so many ways X

  25. Looks wonderful. Very fresh. Question - do you starch your fabric before sewing? Or, how do you keep it all so nice and sharp and crisp and smooth after handling and quilting it? Amazing!

  26. What a beautiful and colourful quilt and I love the little bit of extra interest with the white circles. I too find that the Bernia 820 can be a bit temperamental at times. As someone else said, I would love to know how you "tame" yours.
