Yesterday was spent at the Melbourne Craft and Quilt Fair, where I met up with family and craft friends. I managed to stash some fabrics, play with dream sewing machines as well as be inspired by the colors and techniques of the quilts on display. I thought I'd show you some of the highlights of my day starting with the my favorite:
King David's Modern Crown by Karen from Quilts on Bastings
Karen's quilt - Kind David's Modern Crown - was entered in the Long Arm section of the Exhibition and was awared a Runners Up Ribbon. You can see more pictures of this quilt on Karen's Blog. I think we were both equally excited about this wonderful achievement!
Texas Star by Sandra Boyle
Hand pieced and hand quilted
Twenty Ten by Susan Pepper
This is only a snippet of the quilt - I just loved the unique technique and use of fabric
Cells by Raelene Kwong
I also wanted to show you Amitie's Block of the Month commencing August 2010.
This Block of the Month - The Circle Game - promises to be a hand sewer's delight, and if you are interested in participating in this block of the month you can contact Jenny Kingwell at Amitie. Block of the Month programs involve one block posted to you each month - spreading the cost of the quilt over the entire period. Amitie contact details can be found here, international participants are welcome, places are limited.
It was a wonderful day, and certainly well worth visiting over the weekend if you are in Melbourne.
The Melbourne Craft and Quilt Fair is on until July 25, 2010.

I have a sewing machine question for you! Since you've been borrowing the 440QE do you love it as much as you thought you would? How does it compare to your Janome? I am hunting for a machine at the moment and considering a 440QE or a Janome Horizon and wondering what your thoughts are?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much :D
I went to the show today and I also loved the King David's Modern Crown. It was the winner for me.
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous quilts! I absolutely love that 'cells' one - I wish I could get up closer to it! And the block of the month is stunning! Thanks for all the eye candy!
