Low Volume Strip Quilt [workinprogress]

Looking back through my blog archives it is obvious why I needed to work with my low volume fabric stash this week: it has been months(!) since my last low volume patchwork/quilt and I have been itching to get back to some serious low volume fabric play.

This quilt top came together relatively quickly as I have been cutting and collecting 2 inch wide strips of fabric - in varying lengths - of fabrics that I have worked with (not just low volume fabrics) for several months now. These strips were not cut with a specific quilt design in mind, but were simply ready and waiting for inspiration to strike. [I have also cut many 1.5 inch wide fabric strips in preparation for a possible string quilt].

I have taken the anything goes approach with the fabric selection for this quilt, choosing low volume fabric strips as well fabric strips that are much louder; vibrant in design and vivid in color. I am not disappointed with the result ... it is calm and busy all at the same time.  Best of all is that the fabrics are all from stash.

Lots of pictures today.

You already know what I will be doing the next few days if things go according to plan. Basting. Quilting. Binding.

Thank you for stopping by,
Rita
