Cut your strip a scant 3 1/4 inches wide (not 3.5 inches).

From each 1 yard of fabric you can theoretically cut 11 strips (but only just) so let's go with cut 10 strips each 3.25 inches wide from each yard.

Therefore from each 1 yard of fabric you can cut 170 triangles which is enough for 21 Hummingbird blocks.

In summary :: 1 yard of solid background fabric makes 21 Blocks.
Red Pepper Quilts - Rita Hodgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16146251579528285964noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7027731275129684828.post-72600824647155087722013-10-13T10:46:39.709+11:002013-10-13T10:46:39.709+11:00Thanks for the tutorial. :)Thanks for the tutorial. :)machttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04432472750381781930noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7027731275129684828.post-55127176475137119082013-10-13T10:00:47.440+11:002013-10-13T10:00:47.440+11:00Thanks so very much for the templates and such a g...Thanks so very much for the templates and such a great tutorial!Amy Rhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11941461947684033252noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7027731275129684828.post-44368047433476927812013-10-13T09:14:40.263+11:002013-10-13T09:14:40.263+11:00Thanks, Rita .. this looks like a good place to s...Thanks, Rita .. this looks like a good place to start learning Paper Pieceing .. your instructions are very clearAnne Rusthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00074597697155251785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7027731275129684828.post-69495294910666106952013-10-13T05:51:40.647+11:002013-10-13T05:51:40.647+11:00Hi!
