99 Squircles Quilt - A Finished Quilt and Squircle Block Templates

I do love a good scrap quilt and this quilt is certainly all that and more. Scrap, scrap, scrap. It certainly is a feast for the eyes and I have loved making it. I especially enjoyed the challenge of machine piecing a small block with a relatively tight curve, and troubleshooting the problems encountered in doing so.

I finished this quilt by first ditch-stitching all vertical and horizontal seam lines, and then adding additional vertical lines spaced just 1 inch apart. The quilting is functional rather than decorative, adding texture which gives the quilt a lovely drape and soft hand, and a minimal modern look without further distraction.

There are no surprises for my choice of backing and binding fabric. I have used a Newsprint fabric from the Story Collection by Carrie Bloomston for the backing fabric and my signature black and white stripe binding fabric to finish the quilt.

  3. The colors in this quilt are so perfect - bright enough to be fun and interesting, but still light and not too crazy or overwhelming. They compliment the pattern wonderfully. Beautiful work!
