The Finished Scrapbuster Quilt

A Scrapbuster Quilt | © Red Pepper Quilts 2016

I am a creature of habit and if you were to pop by my home you are likely to find me at my sewing machine making a quilt, however when the going gets tough and I unexpectedly lose a few days because life happens you are then likely to find me making a simple patchwork quilt preferably from fabric pulled from my scrap bin. The ritual and routine of patchwork piecing brings so much joy!

And so this quilt is all about the fabrics, the prints, and the abundance of color. No specific color palette for this quilt, instead I have embraced the all over scrappy (and colorful) look. I have included many of may favorite prints as well as fussy cut numerous fun novelty prints to feature animals, birds, faces, fruits, accessories etc.

The finished quilt measures 60 inches x 75 inches and I have ditch stitched all seam lines, thereby creating an all over 2.5 inch grid of intersecting lines and giving the quilt a lovely soft hand without adding or taking anything away from the fabrics that are the feature of this quilt.

The back of the quilt features a single text fabric ~ Newsprint from the Story collection by Carrie Bloomston ~ an old favorite. And I have matched it with my signature black and white stripe fabric (by Timeless Treasures) for the binding.

  2. A lovely piece of work. How do you manage to get so many fabrics with the same white? They just work perfectly together. The white backgrounds to my fabric stash seem to be lots of different shades.
