A finished quilt! A really satisfying finish this week. I love working with fabrics from stash and as you can see this quilt includes a huge range of fabrics from both old and new collections. Many are now hard to find and sought after fabrics, some have only just hit the stores. Included throughout are snippets of Liberty of London Tana Lawn for a touch of added luxury. Most fabric squares were individually cut and pieced, many fabrics were fussy cut to feature novelty items like a face, animal, shape, text, or other character.

Once again this quilt is one of my bigger quilts - 70 inches x 70 inches - which can make basting and quilting quite an onerous task. I therefore decided to ditch stitch this quilt - quilting only the seam lines. When I say only I don't mean that this quilt is lightly quilted, for by quilting all seam lines an all over 2" grid of intersecting lines is created. I love this minimal look, and the subtle texture from the quilting is truly amazing.

For the back of the quilt I have used my go to backing fabric ~ Newsprint from the Story Collection by Carrie Bloomston, and I have matched it with my signature black/white stripe fabric for binding; both complement the style and tone of the quilt perfectly.

This is my third Irish Chain Quilt made with the Scrappy Irish Chain Quilt Tutorial, and I doubt that it is my last. This is such an effective design, offers opportunity for fabric play, and what's more, it is the perfect stash and scrap buster.

Thank you for stopping by,
Rita
