A picture post of my finished Confetti Drunkard's Path Quilt. I have lots of photos to share with you today, I hope you don't mind? What I like most about this quilt (other than that it was a great opportunity to work on my curved piecing as well is an awesome scrap buster project) is the use of solid fabric contrasted with printed fabric to enhance the design of the Drunkard's Path block - a traditional patchwork block that on it's own already is such a graphic block.

I was also reminded that I love working with solid fabrics! I have a considerable stash of Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton on hand, much of it in fat quarters, but also yardage, in a array of colors too many to mention. This project was a timely reminder to bring out the solid fabrics more often, especially if I can find more ways to combine solid fabrics with my love for all printed fabrics and simple patchwork piecing!

For the back of the quilt I have again used Newspaper in White from the Story Collection by Carrie Bloomston; still a favorite backing fabric. And I have used a classic black/white stripe fabric by Timeless Treasures for binding - another fabric that I use often for binding, for it is indeed timeless and provides just the right amount of contrast for this colorful quilt. You can't go wrong with a striped fabric for binding!

QUICK QUILT STATS
The finished quilt measures 50 inches x 50 inches.
400 Drunkard's Path blocks - 100 four-patch Circle Blocks.
Each Drunkard's Path unit measured 3.5" x 3.5".
These units were then sewn into four-patch units to form a circle.
Each four-patch Circle Block then measured 6.5" x 6.5".
To create the balance of printed fabric vs solid background fabric I trimmed
the four-patch Circle Block to measure 5.5" x 5.5".
The diameter of each finished circle is 4 inches.
Quilted by ditch-stitching all straight seams thereby creating an
all over grid of 2.5 inch squares.

  5. Fabulous, really pretty & colourful. I am also always impressed with your photo shots, they are so clear and show quilts to best advantage. What camera do you use? Would you have any special tips on how to photograph your quilts? I'm just curious as I like to keep a record of what I make but my photos never look as good as yours. Really lovely.

  7. Your quilt is fabulous! The solids are just the thing to make this quilt blend smoothly. You have inspired me to make a Drunkard's Path and use my friends Accuquilt Go Die to cut the pieces. Perfect binding fabric. Well Done!

  9. So absolutely love this so much!!! It is just so bright and fresh. Love seeing it. I don't know if you know this but one day I got an email that someone saw my blog on one of the feeds, I think blogger, and the pic was blurry. So I checked it out and sure enough on the feeder it was blurry. I have since seen a few others bloggers with the same issue and yours is one. If you have any idea how to fix this as people who look at your blogging profile see the pics from all your posts and they are all blurry. I can't figure out how to fix it. thx if you have any ideas?

    1. Just in case anyone else is having this issue with bloglovin' - Kris and I have worked out that we had to change our RSS Feed to FULL instead of SHORT so that the first image appears clear and unaltered on bloglovin. Go to dashboard - SETTINGS - OTHER. There you will see SITE FEED. Change SHORT to FULL.

  10. What a perfect combination. As you know, I love sewing with solids, but I have been craving some prints lately. So this way I could satisfy both. Win-win.
