Late last year I was commissioned by Jodie Carleton from Vintage RicRic to make a quilt with her brand new fabric line ~ the Cat's Pyjamas ~ for her booth at Quilt Market (Houston). The timeline was short but Jodie knew exactly what she wanted (my instructions were bright, cheerful, and just do your thing). Ok, that I can do, and you know how much I love simple patchwork ....
The collection is a great mix of bright colors with fresh white contrast and includes several prints perfect for fussy cutting. For this patchwork quilt all squares were cut individually (no strip piecing) and many were fussy cut to preserve the fabric design. The cats are so adorable!
The finished quilt measures 60 inches x 60 inches.
400 patchwork squares.
Each finished square measures 3 inches x 3 inches.
Fabrics used: The Cat's Pyjamas by Jodie Carleton.
Cotton fabrics, batting and thread.
Backing and binding fabric ~ Ella's Basics by Ella Blue Fabrics.
Thank you Jodie for the opportunity to work with you and with this cheerful new collection. It was a pleasure to work with such a kind and talented designer. I am looking forward to seeing many more handmade Cat's Pyjamas projects, as well as what Jodie has in store for us next.
Jodie is kindly giving away a Fat Quarter Bundle of the Cat's Pyjamas collection to one lucky RPQ Reader.
