Simple patchwork squares have my heart and I love pulling fabric from my stash to make these quilts. To make a beautiful quilt doesn't need to involve a complicated design or sewing technique, although of course I do also like to challenge myself to keep things interesting, and to continue to learn and grow. This week however was all about easing myself into a good routine and enjoying the process - choose fabrics, cut, sew, press ... repeat.

  2. This is so pretty Rita. I am in the process of making the checkerboard quilt from your tutorial with the 16 square blocks. I am teaching myself to sew/quilt from blogs like yours and online videos. I am having the best time learning and creating. Thank you for sharing your talent and your love of quilting.

  9. this looks happy. This is a "Rita" quilt of course!
Cutting 3 inch blocks is a good size, Not too tiny that you lose the design of each special fabric. I love putting stuff together carefree.. You know there are those out there..... that would say "AAkk this is too busy". Those people should stick to what they do best: filing, making lists, and organizing their silverware drawers.
I love carefully selected collections of happy

  13. Wonderful, wonderful. Perfect amount of lights, perfect amount of brights. I just finished your nine-patch and since it used 2 1/2 inch strips, I'll be putting these together with some new fabrics for a simple patchwork quilt. I love your enthusiasm for colourful patchwork. It seems just the right way to use up some of those scraps from previous projects.

  16. this is just beautiful! thank you for bringing such beauty into the simple, 3" squares. I love the simplicity but with interesting and lovely fabrics. Ever thought of selling a LARGE sampling of your choices of fabrics for a quilt like this? My colors never seem to be this well put together. Maybe I need to pull more fabrics......120+....wow!
