An Indian Summer Quilt

It's that time again!
A finished quilt and a reflection of the gorgeous Autumn weather we've enjoyed this week, although I hear it will be short-lived with much cooler conditions expected to arrive just in time for the weekend.

As you can see I've had a wonderful time not only with the fabric selection process but also with the quilting of this quilt.  I started by stitching the vertical lines just over a 1/2 inch apart and then continued on to also quilt horizontal lines, thereby creating a crisscross of parallel lines.   I wish I could easily convey to you the lovely texture and drape of this quilt created by the dense quilting grid.

For the back of the quilt I have used one of my favorite prints from the Flea Market Fancy Legacy Reprint fabric collection :: Leaf & Dot in Grey :: by Denyse Schmidt.  The grey complements the tone and feel of the quilt and is further completed by the use of grey/white stripe fabric for binding (From Little Things by Sarah Fielke).
This one is all about the fabrics, the colors, and the quilting. I have thoroughly enjoyed working from stash to create this quilt!  As usual, I have updated my Etsy Store.  The listing for this quilt can been can be found here:  Modern and Colorful Patchwork Quilt.  SOLD

Thank you for stopping by!

  1. Love it, love all those fabrics together. I'm working on something rectangular at the moment, but very scrappy.

  11. Beautiful - I think this might be my favourite of all the quilts you share with us. Sorry, 2nd favourite, as I still drool over your Flea Market Fancy Progress III quilt. Have you had that one quilted yet, and if so, are you going to show us how it looks quilted?

  14. Mean, one has to be quick like a bunny if they want to purchase one of your beauties. Such a beautiful quilt and I love the pattern. Is that pattern you made up on the fly or one that you followed? I love the simplicity of it and would like to replicate it if possible.

  18. Truly beautiful! Love the crisscross quilting. Do you machine bind all your quilts? I read your tutorial and it looks more than 2.25 also but it is probably just me!
I'm amazed just how fast you put quilts out too! I'm so slow!

  24. Lovely quilt. Since I am in the spring part of the world it looks more "Spring" than "Fall". Looks like a great picnic quilt. And the extra amount of quilting only enhances the effect! Thanks for sharing.

  25. Hi Rita,
I love the greens and blues in this quilt, it's gorgeous!
I appreciate that you're very busy, but I wanted to pick your brains. I was just wondering if you ever have issues with puckering when you sew cross hatch/perpendicular quilting lines like you have with this quilt?
I'm having big issues with it and I'm not sure why...
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Abbe
