Sunday Stash #71

When I mentioned to my husband yesterday that I was "all out of Sunday Stash" he gave me that quizzical look that suggested otherwise and then glanced over at the overflowing dresser.  Nope, my stash is in a mess and I don't have the time (energy) to look through it today.

Alas, today I have some thread stashing to show you.  I use Gutermann 100% cotton thread almost exclusively, using white, grey or off-white for general piecing and often also for quilting.  However, when machine stitching the binding I do like to use a thread which matches the color of the binding in the bobbin.

I purchase colored threads only as required or occasionally I add to my thread stash when they are on sale.  It does seem that I have a penchant for the blues.

May your bobbin always be full.
Enjoy Sunday!

  1. Pretty, nevertheless. I tried machine-applying my binding today as per your tutorial and had a few hiccups. Will try again with the 2.25" strips you use, rather than the 2.5. I think that will help! I really want to conquer my binding dread.

  2. I prefer Gutermann 100% thread too. After trialling other brands/generic thread nothing else really compares!

  3. I love Gutermann thread and use it so much that I purchased a thread cabinet that holds 100 colors and 3 spools of each color I bought it about 5 years ago I guess and never regret it - I have colors to chose from that almost always matches my applique and my other work.

  8. Thread is the next best thing to fabric! I am a bit of a Superior and Signature fan.

"May the thread be with you, Luke" and may the tension in your bobbin and top thread always be perfect.

  9. I'm a new convert to the Gutterman 100% cotton thread, though I have bought the polyester ones for years. It is a nice weight, not too curly, and comes in yummy neutrals. My thread cabinet has few blues, no pinks, and a whole lotta green!

  12. I'm a Guterman girl too. I'm getting to the stage where I need a proper storage for all the spools that are rattling around in my thread tin!
