Georgia's Quilt and Quilt Pattern

Where to begin?  It has been a  busy few days, packed with all things quilt related.  The sewing machine has worked overtime for 3 days and now ...

Georgia's Quilt
60.5 inches x 60.5 inches

I have enjoyed piecing these blocks, and although unsure of the end result until all blocks were pieced together, I think has turned out really well.  I love the huge range of pink fabrics, the colors ranging from purple pinks, to those pinks tinged with red and orange.  They all "clash" together wildly, yet harmoniously.

It never ceases to amaze me that such simple pieced blocks can make such great quilts.  I have added further interest to the quilt by using some quirky feature fabrics in the centers of some of the quilt blocks.

I think my niece, Georgia 6, whose favorite color is definitely pink, will love this quilt. This quilt top is now off the my sister, Karen from Quilts on Bastings.  Her contribution to the birthday quilt for our niece will be the quilting. Karen is a professional long arm machine quilter, and her free motion quilting is inspirational.

And because so often you ask for patterns for my quilts, I have literally been tied to the computer for days.  I have written a pattern for this quilt, including fabric requirements and suggestions, cutting instructions, a step by step sewing guide for the blocks, quilt top assembly and finishing the quilt.

Known now as Georgia's Quilt this pattern is available only in PDF format and emailed to you upon purchase, from my Etsy Store as well as the Red Pepper Quilts Pattern Store:

Happy Stitching!
Rita

  3. That turned out beautifully! Your niece will love it! I agree -- when you focus on one color in a quilt, it is most successful when there is a range of the color as you have done; light to dark, dull to bright, etc. Lovely quilt :)

  6. Hot pink is my favorite color, and although I am quite a bit older than Georgia, I would love a quilt with this range of pinks! I really love the fun little feature fabrics you included. This is a quilt that can definitely age with her and doesn't scream little girl

  14. Congrats on getting the pattern up and running and selling on Etsy. I think that is a wonderful way to keep items in your store and it allows people to have a starting place to do the quilt themselves.

  18. I think for monochromatic quilts to be truly succesful they need the range of tints and tones as you describe. And the use of white is fantastic so your eye gets some rest.
