Tuesday - Parcel Day

A small and innocent package arrived in the mail yesterday.  It appears however that the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service was a little suspect of its content.

Lucky for me no items of quarantine concern were detected, and nothing had been removed from the parcel.

I hope the customs inspectors liked the labels as much as I do!  Handmade by Anna from Lilla Lotta, purchased from this Etsy Store, here.  I have previously purchased custom labels from this store, and have been very happy with how professional they make the finished quilt look.  This time I chose the slightly wider cotton tape, and I think they will look good on larger quilts.

Quilting the Fresh Cut quilt top is also coming along nicely. I am thrilled with how well the new Bernina is taking to quilting, the feed dogs are robust and together with the walking foot pull the quilt layers  through  very comfortably.  It is rather satisfying to take this quilt off the "unfinished" list!

  1. Love that Fresh Cut quilt! I ordered more Amy Butler Midwest Modern 2 and some Fresh Cut last night on Etsy. And just a day or two after I assured my husband that I wasn't expecting any more packages....

  2. The quilt is looking great! I really like your labels too...I might have to look into those some day. Of course, I would actually have to finish something first!

  4. Yeah for your labels. Based on your recommendation I have ordered mine. They were shipped on Saturday so should reach the states soon. I can hardly wait. Love your new creation and glad to hear you and the Bernina are getting along well. Thanks again, Debbie (onestitchoff.blogspot.com)

  6. Australian customs agents can be brutal with mail. A few years ago when my sister lived in Australia I had sent her a noval with a card and it was inspected by their customs agent. Not only was the package delayed by almost a month, but it was completely demolished; held together by lots of tape. lol

  8. I bet they were impressed! Perhaps they were wanting some labels themselves and were just finding out where to get them from.

I might even love it more than the thrill of getting packages of fabric in the mail and that's saying a lot! :)

  10. See, when I think about your unfinished list, I think about something barely millimetres long, whereas your finished list stretches all the way to the Indian sub-continent. Love your labels. Thanks for the link (just got to think of something to put some on!)

  20. That's funny that they felt this package should be opened. I wonder what they though when they saw what it was. I also like the wider ribbon.

  21. The quilt is wonderful. I had contacted Lilla Lotta to order some labels and unfortuately there was some kind of accident and she cannot take any new custom orders right now. I like the wider tape you received. She can do repeat orders though and still has a wide variety of wonderful tapes. I was disappointed since I really need labels for a bunch of quilts I need to finish. I just hope whom ever had the accident will recover quickly and fully - that is more important than anything! Hopefully things turn around quickly for Lilla and I can help support her business.
