What are You working on Today?

Yesterday was a a busy day organizing the teens, catching up on some domestic chores and the all important visit to my local Fabric Store. I also had some time to dig through my fabric stash and these are the fabrics I have selected for my next project:

Last night I had some time to piece all these fabrics onto some Linen/Cotton blend fabric (in natural), by strip piecing. It is a lot more productive to work this way rather than piece with small patches of fabric.

These strips were then cut cross-cut at 3 inch intervals to make these:

The patches were then pieced to make 4-patch blocks. I learned the hard way that you should take care when sewing together 4 patches, otherwise not all blocks will be identical in terms of the direction of which way the seam allowances are ironed. In which case sewing together a quilt top is a lot more difficult. I again spend some time with the seam ripper!

This is what I will be sewing together into quilt tops today:

It is going to be a good day! I hope you have a great day too!

  6. Wow, that is going to look so happy. I don't think I could choose all those fabrics that look so different and know how wonderful they would look sewn into blocks. And I have to keep in mind the strip piecing, edges would be so nice and square!
